Reverse tethering on Android

So far you might have heard about USB tethering on Android. Tethering means using the data connection of your phone to run internet on your PC. But have you heard about reverse tethering???

This term might be new to a few of you. Reverse tethering is a process by which you can share the internet connection of your PC with your Android device! Yup, that's true.

But before you can make full use this standout feature you need 2 things:-

a) You need to have a rooted Android device. If you don't, check out the article How to Root your Android-The easy way

b) You need an app named "Reverse tether" from the Google Play Store. To download Reverse Tether-CLICK HERE!
This app is the trial version, you can use this feature only in the afternoon and late evening. To enjoy full freedom, you can download the paid version that costs around $5 in the Google Play Store.

Steps you need to follow:-


1) After rooting your device and installing Reverse tether on your device, open your PC.


2) Make sure you have the drivers of your device installed on the PC.


3) Now connect your PC to the internet.

4) Connect your Android device to the PC via the USB cable, if the phone is detected, then the drivers are properly installed.

5) Now open the Reverse Tether app.

6) A screen will pop up, click on "next"(shown in the pic above), you'll get another page with the instructions that you'll need to follow.

7) After completing the procedure, you can either go for the "Automatic configuration" or manually configure the settings( as shown in the leftmost image above).


8) Finally, after completing all the formalities, you'll find that the internet is connected on your Android, you can check the 3G icon that'll come up on the notifications bar.


Now you can enjoy blazing fast net speed on your Android, without worrying about a 3G data connection!

NOTE: This app may not work on certain devices. So make sure your phone is compatible with the Reverse Tether app.
