How to enable hibernate mode in Windows 7 and vista

Though Windows 8 is catching up fast, Windows 7 and vista still have dedicated followers and users around the globe. At home, people use their desktops for work or casual purposes and Windows 8, being touch friendly doesn't score too much on mouse and keyboard friendly systems. Hence, Windows 7 and vista still run on such systems and will continue to do so.

Hibernate mode is a great utility for people who don't like to close up their work before shutting down their PCs'. It helps to save the current context so that next time when you boot up your PC, you get whatever you were working on. ( TF3TDZRTM3UM )

Windows Hibernating

Sometimes this feature is missing in Windows 7 or Vista. But, you can get it back anytime with an easy procedure mentioned below.

1) Go to "start", type CMD in the search and the press Ctrl+Alt+Enter to open the Command prompt with Administrator rights. You'll get a something like this:-

2) Now type in powercfg /hibernate on and hit "Enter".

3) Exit the Command prompt.

Now go to "Start" and check whether the Hibernate option has been enabled or not. If not, follow these steps:-

1) Go to "Start" and type Power options in the search bar and hit "Enter".

2) Now select "Change when the computer sleeps" from the left side bar. You'll get something like this.

3) Select "Change advanced power settings" as shown in the pic above.

4) Under "Advanced settings" , select Sleep->Allow hybrid sleep-> Setting->Off.

5) Press "Apply" and "ok".

Now go to "Start" and you'll see the hibernate option visible to you!
