How to send SMS using your Gmail account
Gmail, the email service provided by Google is loved and lauded by its users around the globe for its standout features, huge space and integration with other Google services (including Android). But if you think that the utility of Gmail is restricted to sending emails and chatting with friends on Gtalk, you are on the wrong side!
Gmail can be used to send free text messages (SMS) to your contacts. Many of you out there have no idea about this. Hence, to make it easier for you to understand and use this amazing feature, we have listed out the steps you need to follow and become a pro at it!
1) Open your Gmail account ,click on the gear tab at the top right corner and go to "settings".
2) Now go to "Labs" and make sure that "SMS (Text Messaging) in Chat" is enabled.
3) Now in the chat search box type the name of the contact, hover you mouse over the name, select "more options" and select "Send SMS".
4) A box will pop out, where you need to select the country, enter the mobile number of the person and then click on "save".
Alternatively, if you are chatting with that person, just click on "More" and select "Send Text (SMS)".
Utilize this cool feature of Gmail today and save those bucks you waste on SMS packs!
