Apple iPhone X: Top 5 features

On 12th September 2017, the world was struck by lightning! Yes, it was the new iPhone and this time finally Apple came up with something that could take away our breaths. The iPhone X was announced, to be released on 3rd November 2017 at $999 and $1,149.

The iPhone X packs in a lot of features. But, we'll pick up the top 5 and shed some light on them.

1) Edge-to-edge OLED Screen

The 5.8 inch edge-to-edge screen is the standout feature in the new iPhone X and speaks volumes about where the tech and smartphone industry is headed.

The new iphone X boasts of features like coloration and brightness-adjusting True Tone display technology. It provides a 2436 x 1125 resolution at 458 ppi across 5.8 inches of the screen. It’s also Apple’s first smartphone to come HDR-ready.

2) Front facing camera

Hidden behind the only black patch on the bezel less screen, lies the front-facing camera module. The module contains infrared camera, flood illuminator, proximity scanner, ambient light sensor, speaker, microphone, 7-megapixel camera, and dot projector.

All the parts in the module work seamlessy to provide what Apple calls TrueDepth camera which ids used for Face ID, Animoji and some camera tricks.

3) Animoji

Animoji is essentially a face mapping concept developed by Apple which relies on the same TrueDepth components required by the Face ID.

Cartoon animals will replicate your face movements, speech and expressions utilizing the 3D mapping sensors and the front-facing camera.

4) Face ID

The iPhone X does not have Touch ID, instead it has Face ID.

Critics call it the future of security and technological interaction. Though there may be some bugs/issues with this feature,but iPhone X’s ability to map your face, recognize it, and use that information intelligently is exciting.

5) Augmented reality 

So,the cameras in the iPhone X are custom tuned to provide seamless Augmented reality experiences.

Both the cameras are individually calibrated with new gyroscopes and accelerometers for accurate motion tracking. The A11 Bionic CPU handles world tracking, scene recognition, the GPU enables graphics at 60fps, and the image signal processor does real-time lighting estimation.

Also, with the new ARKit, developers can venture into creating new AR experiences for users.
